1
Code your OneTouch Ultra meter with the code printed on your OneTouch Ultra test strip vial. If your meter is not coded accurately, your test results may not be accurate. Instructions for coding the meter properly can be found in the OneTouch Ultra Owner's Booklet. Your doctor, pharmacist or OneTouch customer service can also assist you in coding your meter properly.

2
Press the "C" button on your OneTouch Ultra meter while it is displaying the blood drop symbol. According to Lifescan, this marks the procedure as a control procedure in the meter's memory.

3
Insert the test strip into the top of the OneTouch Ultra meter. According to the OneTouch Ultra Owner's Booklet, the contact bars on the test strip should be facing up and the test strip should be inserted as far as it will go into the meter.

4
Shake the control solution before use.
-
5
Squeeze out and discard the first drop of control solution and wipe off the top of the vial.
-
6
Squeeze the next drop of control solution onto the top edge of the test strip in the OneTouch Ultra meter. When the solution fills the confirmation window on the test strip, the meter will begin calculating results. Results will appear in 5 seconds.

7
Check the results of the control strip by comparing it with the range printed on the back of your OneTouch Ultra test strip box. According to Lifescan, the results of the control test will fall within this range 95 percent of the time.

8
Repeat the control solution test using the correct procedure if the first results do not fall within the expected range. If you continue to get inaccurate results, contact a Lifescan representative or OneTouch customer service. Discontinue use of the meter until the problem has been resolved.
