How do you test for diabetes?

Blood sugar test: A blood sugar test measures the amount of glucose in your blood. A1c test: An A1c test measures your average blood sugar level over the past 2 to 3 months.

Risk factors: Your doctor may also recommend testing for diabetes if you have risk factors for the condition, such as:

\- Having a family history of diabetes

\- Being physically inactive

\- Having high blood pressure

\- Having high cholesterol

\- Having a history of gestational diabetes
