You are a diabetic and your blood sugar is 395 Should you go to the hospital?
Seek medical attention immediately.
A blood sugar level of 395 mg/dL is considered extremely high and can be dangerous. If you have diabetes and your blood sugar is 395 mg/dL, go to the hospital immediately or ask someone else to take you to the emergency department.
You may experience symptoms such as:
- Extreme fatigue and exhaustion
- Vision changes or trouble seeing
- Frequent urination
- Increased thirst
- Weight loss
- Nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain
- Shortness of breath
- Confusion or disorientation
- Loss of consciousness
These symptoms can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. If you experience any of these symptoms, call 911 or go to the emergency department immediately.
Don't delay seeking medical attention if your blood sugar is 395 mg/dL. This is an extremely dangerous level and you could go into diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) if you don't get treatment right away. DKA is a serious complication of diabetes that can lead to coma or death if not treated.
If you can, try to drink some water and rest before you go to the hospital. This can help to lower your blood sugar slightly. However, do not delay going to the hospital if you are experiencing any symptoms of DKA.
