Use an eyedropper to deposit about five drops of urine in a clean container or test tube, says the Point of Care website. Using a second dropper--or after thoroughly cleaning the first one--add 10 drops of pure, distilled water to the test tube of urine.

    • 2

Add one Clinitest tablet in the urine solution. It should start to boil, says the Point of Care website. Allow it to do so for about 15 seconds, and don't shake or move the test tube during this period. After 15 seconds, the boiling should stop. At this point, you should shake the solution gently to ensure the tablet is thoroughly mixed.

Assess the color of the liquid. To do this, you will need to use the Clinitest color chart, says the Point of Care website. You should assess the color of the liquid only--not any sediment that may have formed in the bottom of the tube.
