Bayer Contour Link Instructions
If you are one of the millions of Americans who has diabetes then you know the importance of accurate glucose testing. The Bayer Contour Link meter effectively records your glucose but also transmits the information automatically to your Metronic Minimed or the continuous glucose monitoring system over a wireless network. Use this information to better manage your eating choices and blood gllucose levels. Operating the Contour Link is not difficult but does require following a few key steps to ensure consistency and accuracy.Things You'll Need

Insert the lancing device into the Bayer Contour after you remove the end cap. Pull and release the cocking end of the contour link before removing the front end safety cap of the lancer.This will prepare your contour link meter to safely and effectively test your blood glucose.

Remove a test strip from the sealed container and replace the lid immediately to preserve the sterility of the strips. Face the gray end of the strip up and insert it into the Bayer contour link testing slot.

Check to see if the meter is turned on. The Bayer contour should automatically power on after inserting the testing strip. The display should show should a small drop of blood at the bottom of the screen indicating the device is ready to test your blood. The upward pointing arrow indicates the device is ready to send your blood glucose information to the corresponding Medtronic device.

Wash you hands with soap and water before positioning your finger next to the end cap of the Bayer Contour. Press the blue release button to puncture your skin and wait for the formation of a single drop of blood on your finger.

Place the tip of the testing strip on the top of blood drop and wait approximately five seconds until you hear the meter beep. Do not push the testing strip with your finger or try to wipe the blood on top. The testing strip automatically absorbs the necessary amount of blood from your finger without added pressure.

Wait until the Bayer contour displays your results. The numbers will begin flashing shortly after appearing to indicate that the results have been sent to your MedTronic device. Wait until the screen has stopped flashing before removing and discarding the testing strip. If you remove the strip before the flashing stops, your results will not reach the MedTronic device.
