Types of One Touch Glucose Meters

Self-monitoring blood sugar with a glucometer is an important part of managing diabetes between doctor visits. Lifescan's line of One Touch glucometers come in a variety of sizes and styles, with options to fit your individual needs. These range from models small enough fit in your pocket to models complex enough to graph and interpret several weeks of results or wirelessly communicate with an insulin pump. Testing strips for OneTouch glucometers vary by model and are sold separately.

  1. Ultra

    • Ultra is a medium-sized meter, with a large display screen. It requires only a small amount of blood and delivers test results within five seconds. Ultra is designed for testing on both the forearm and the fingers.

    UltraMini

    • UltraMini is a simple glucometer designed for on-the-go monitoring. Small enough to fit in a pocket or purse and available in a variety of fashion colors, the UltraMini features a 500-test memory and two-way scrolling buttons for navigation.

    Ultra 2

    • Ultra 2 features a large, backlit display screen with large numbers. Other features include results in five seconds, the ability to conduct seven-, 14- and 30-day averages to monitor blood sugar trends and the ability to add "meal flags" to mark the effects of foods on glucose readings.

    UltraSmart

    • UltraSmart automatically organizes glucose readings into charts and graphs, measuring information such as the time of day when a reading was taken, results that fall below 70mg/dL, and results that are out of your normal range. UltraSmart also gives you the ability to enter information about diet, exercise, medication and overall health. Features include a large display screen and a "Smart Button" for easily viewing charts and graphs.

    UltraLink

    • UltraLink is specifically for MiniMed Paradigm insulin pump users. The meter communicates wirelessly with the insulin pump to eliminate data entry errors and simplify the insulin dosing process. Results are delivered within five seconds. UltraLink also features before and after-meal averaging.

    Select

    • OneTouch Select is available to mail-order customers only. It is designed for simplicity, with a large display screen and a 350-test memory. Select requires only a small amount of blood and delivers results within five seconds. Other features include seven-, 14- and 30-day averages and the ability to test fingertips, palms and forearms.
