How to Use the OneTouch Ultra 2
Living with diabetes means you must check your blood sugar regularly. The OneTouch Ultra 2 meter, made by LifeScan Inc., is a portable device that works with a variety of OneTouch testing strips. Not only can you save your results, you also can flag them with a "before meal" tag or an "after meal" tag. This gives a person with diabetes a better understanding of how different foods affect her blood sugar levels.Things You'll Need

1
Insert the testing strip into the meter to turn it on. The portion of the strip with the three black stripes goes into the top of the meter, face up. Press and hold the "OK" button for two seconds after the testing strip has been inserted.
-
2
Confirm that the code displayed on the meter matches the code on the tube your testing strips came in. Press the up and down buttons until the codes match. If the codes do not match, your result will be inaccurate.
-
3
Prick your finger, forearm or palm with your lancet. Squeeze the area to help raise a drop of blood. Do not touch the blood.
-
4
Touch the testing strip to the blood droplet. Hold the testing strip to the blood until the monitor displays an icon of the testing strip that reads "Full."
-
5
Read the result. To turn off the meter, remove the testing strip and discard in the trash. According to the American Diabetes Association, your fasting blood sugar level should be lower than 126 mg/dL. Two hours after eating, a normal blood sugar level falls between 70 and 145 mg/dL. Fasting is considered not eating solids or consuming liquids for eight hours.
