How to Use Freestyle Flash Data Cables
Abbott Laboratories manufactures the FreeStyle Flash blood glucose monitoring system. The data port located on the left side of the meter allows the use of data cables to download test results to a computer. Use the free CoPilot Health Management System offered by Abbott to organize blood glucose testing results. Install the data cables and use the software to build graphs and charts to track test results over extended periods of time.Things You'll Need

Purchase the appropriate data cables for the FreeStyle Flash glucose meter from a local pharmacy. Alternatively, order the cables from an online pharmacy.

Download the CoPilot Health Management System from Abbot Diabetes Care. This free software is provided by the manufacturer to assist in organizing and tracking downloaded test results. Complete the form on the manufacturer's website. You will receive an email containing a link to download the CoPilot Health Management System.

Double-click the downloaded file to begin installation. Follow the directions on the computer screen to select the installation language and proceed with installation. Once installation is complete, double-click the icon created during installation to open the software. Complete the initial user setup.

Insert the data cable into the data port on the left side of the FreeStyle Flash meter. Insert the other end of the data cable into a USB port on the computer. Select the appropriate user on the "Home" page of the CoPilot Health Management System software.

Locate the menu bar and click "Data Entry." Click "Read Device." A pop-up window will appear when the upload is complete.

Remove the data cable from the USB port on the computer and the data port on the Freestyle Flash meter.
