How to Troubleshoot a OneTouch UltraMini
The OneTouch UltraMini is a blood-glucose monitoring system for people with diabetes. If your UltraMini is not functioning properly or if you are receiving frequent error messages when trying to test your blood-glucose level, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can perform to be sure that you are using the system correctly and that the machine is working properly.Instructions

1
Check that the temperature is between 43 degrees and 111 degrees. If the meter becomes too hot or cold, it will not function properly and will display an error message on screen. It may not function at all.

2
Look at each of your test strips for any obvious damage. Damaged test strips often cause an "Er2", "Er4" or "Er5" error message. Repeat the test with a fresh undamaged test strip if you receive this error.
-
3
Place the meter on a flat surface, while the OneTouch is reading your blood-glucose level, so you do not accidentally move the test strip. Moving the test strip can cause the machine to display an "Er4" error message. Repeat the test with a fresh test strip if you receive this error.
-
4
Apply the blood solution sample to the machine only after it flashes the blood drop image on the screen. Applying the blood solution sample too early can cause an "Er3" message. Repeat the test with a fresh test strip if you receive this error.

Replace the battery if the "battery" icon flashes on the screen of if the unit does not power on at all. Open the battery compartment and remove the old battery by pulling the ribbon behind it. Insert the new battery into the slot with the "positive" side facing you. Close the battery compartment and turn on the unit.
