Interaction Between Saxagliptin & Digoxin

• Saxagliptin, marketed under the brand name Onglyza, is a once-daily diabetes medication for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes. According to the FDA, saxagliptin is designed to work by stimulating the pancreas to make more insulin after eating a meal.

Digoxin Interaction

• Drugs.com reports no interaction between digoxin, a medication that strengthens and regulates heartbeat, and saxagliptin. In clinical studies conducted on healthy patients, the administration of saxagliptin did not alter the effectiveness of digoxin.

Considerations

• Saxagliptin has been tested for interactions with more than 500 commonly prescribed medications. Discuss with your doctor any medications you are taking to avoid possible negative interactions.
