Wash and dry your hands thoroughly.

Remove the Accu-Chek Compact meter from its protective pouch. Place the Accu-Chek meter on a flat surface.

Remove a test strip from the container. Close the test strip container to protect the other strips.

Push the end of the test strip with the prongs into the Accu-Chek Compact meter until it is securely in place. The slot for the test strip is located at the bottom of the meter.

Wait for the Accu-Chek meter to turn on. The meter should turn on automatically.

Make sure the code number on the meter's display screen matches the number on the test strip container. The number flashes momentarily when the meter first turns on.
