Instructions

Setup
-
1
Press and hold the "M" button on your One Touch Ultra meter until the time appears on the bottom right side of the display.
-
2
Push the "C" button to change the hour and push "M" to save the setting. Repeat this process---"M" button, "C" button and "M" button---to change the minutes, time of day (AM/PM), year, month and day. If "mg/dL" or "mmol/L" appears on the screen, follow the same procedure to change the reading to mg/dL.
-
3
Insert a test strip---bar end down---into the test port to code the meter. Compare the displayed number against the code number on the test strip vial. If no code appears on the display, press "C" and input the correct code--or repeat with a fresh strip if the display shows the blood droplet icon only.
-
4
Insert a fresh test strip to conduct a control test, press "C" until "ctrl" appears on the top of the display, shake the control solution bottle, squeeze out and discard the first droplet and then apply the solution to the channel in the end of the test strip. Compare the displayed number with the solution range shown on the test strip vial. If the numbers don't match, repeat with a fresh strip.
Testing
-
5
Remove the UltraSoft cap from the end of the blood sampling pen barrel. Insert a lancet into the pen, remove the lancet protective cap and reattach the UltraSoft cap (fingertip testing) or the UltraClear cap (forearm testing).
-
6
Turn the pen's depth adjuster knob to a shallow (fingertip) or deep (forearm) depth and pull back on the "Ejection/Cocking Control" slide on top of the barrel.
-
7
Wash the test site---side of fingertip or fleshy area of forearm---with soap and water. Rinse away all soap residues and wipe completely dry.
-
8
Insert a test strip into your meter.
-
9
Rub the test site, place the cap end of the blood sampling pen against the site and push the "Release" button on top of the barrel. Pull the pen away and massage the area again until you see a droplet of blood form.
-
10
Place the top edge of the test strip against the blood and hold in place until the channel fills completely. Wait 5 seconds and compare the results against your doctor-recommended blood glucose range.
-
11
Affix a bandage to the test site.
-
12
Remove the lancet, reattach the protective cap and discard. Store your One Touch system in a cool, dark place until the next use.
