How to Measure TED Hose

TED hoses are elastic stockings worn for the prevention of blood clots in the legs. The acronym TED stands for Thrombo Embolic Deterrent. Blood clots can occur in bed-bound patients or those who have decreased activity due to illness or surgery. TED hoses compress the vessels in the legs, decreasing the chances of blood clots until you can return to your normal level of activity. The fit of the TED hose is very important in order for them to work most effectively. Proper measuring must take place to ensure the proper specific fit for each patient. By following these steps, it is possible to correctly measure for TED hose.
