How to Dispose of Testing Strips
Diabetes is a disease relating to the body's blood sugar. There are two major types of diabetes, one where the body does not produce enough insulin, and one where the body stops producing insulin altogether. Those with Type 1 diabetes need to take insulin often to keep their levels up. They also need to test their blood sugar two or more times a day and watch to keep it in the normal range suggested by a doctor. Disposing of used test strips properly is important.Instructions

1
Dispose your used test strip inside of the original package it came in, or drop it into an old laundry soap container. Any metal or heavy duty plastic container will work. Make sure the contaminated strips do not touch unused strips.

2
Tape up the old container of lancets and used test strips when your bottle is full. A heavy wrapping of duct tape should work fine.

3
Throw away the bottle in the trash, or return to a pharmacy or hospital that offers a sharps disposal center.
