Instructions

  1. Setting up the Meter

    • 1

Press the down arrow button on the meter for five seconds until the start-up test screen comes on. The preset time and date will be displayed then the hour will begin flashing.

    • 2

Press the up and down arrow buttons to change the hour while it is flashing. Hold the button down to move quickly through the numbers. Release the button and wait five seconds for the hour to be saved. The minutes will now begin flashing.

    • 3

Press the arrow buttons to change the minutes while they are flashing. Wait for the minutes to be saved and the next setting to begin flashing. Press the arrow buttons to change the AM/PM, last two digits of the year, the month and the day once they begin flashing, allowing five seconds in between each setting to save your input.

    • 4

Wait while your selected time and date is displayed and saved. The meter will then turn off.

    Coding the Meter

    • 5

Turn the meter off. Remove one test strip from the vial. Hold the strip with the three contact bars facing up and insert it into the test port. Push the test strip in as far as it will go without bending it. The meter will turn on and the start-up screen will display the code from the last testing.

    • 6

Compare the code displayed on the meter with the code printed on the test strip vial. The code numbers must match for an accurate reading.

    • 7

Use the arrow buttons to change the code to match the number on the test vial. The new code number will flash for three seconds, then remain in the display screen until the blood drop icon begins flashing. If the codes already match, wait three seconds for the flashing icon to appear.

    Testing

    • 8

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and dry them off. Remove the cap from the lancing device by snapping it off.

    • 9

Insert a lancet into the lancing device and firmly push it in. Twist and pull the protective disk off of the lancet and place it aside for later use -- do not twist the lancet. Snap the cap back on the lancing device. Twist the cap to the correct puncture setting, from one to nine.

    • 10

Push the cocking control switch back until it clicks into place. Hold the lancing device against the side of your finger and press the release button. Remove the lancing device and squeeze your fingertip until a drop of blood appears. Wipe the area clean and squeeze your fingertip again if the blood smears or runs.

    • 11

Keep your finger steady and hold the edge of the test strip to the drop of blood, making sure the blood drop icon is displayed on the meter. Align the narrow channel on the edge of the test strip with the drop of blood and gently press the channel to the blood drop.

    • 12

Watch the confirmation window on the test strip. Once the window is full you can move the test strip away. The meter will count down from five once it detects the blood. The test screen will display your blood glucose level, the unit of measure and the date and time. The results are then stored in the meter's memory.
