What Is Normal Non-fasting Blood Glucose in People?

Glucose is your body’s primary source of energy. You keep your body in fresh supply of this vital nutrient by eating and digesting carbohydrates. Following a meal with foods that contain carbohydrates, blood glucose levels become elevated.

    • If you don’t have diabetes, the normal range for a random blood glucose test typically falls between 70 to the mid 100s using the mg/dL scale (number of glucose milligrams per every deciliter of blood). A reading below 70 mg/dL indicates hypoglycemia (low blood glucose).

    Warning

    • Two random blood glucose tests with results of 200 mg/dL or above may indicate diabetes. Consult with your physician for a definitive diagnosis.
