How to Use One Touch Ultra Test Strips

One Touch Ultra test strips are used with the One Touch Ultra, One Touch Ultra 2 and One Touch UltraMini to test the blood sugar level of people with diabetes. The test strips are used to draw blood into the machine for analysis. The blood test is important for diabetic patients who need to know their blood sugar level and make adjustments to their diet based on the results.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide a test strip into the monitor, taking care to push it in until it can go no farther. Do not bend the strip or it will be damaged. The monitor will turn on and display the code of the last test strip you used.

    • 2

Use the "C" button on the One Touch Ultra to change the code to match the new test strip if the code is different. If using the One Touch Ultra 2 or the One Touch Ultra Mini, use the up and down arrow buttons to change the code. If the code is correct, do not push any buttons.

    • 3

Draw a round drop of blood from the tip of your finger using the lancet. You may find that squeezing around the area where you lanced your finger produces a round drop of blood. Running blood will not work.

    • 4

Hold the test strip in the drop of blood so the channel in the middle of the edge of the strip is touching the blood drop. The test strip will draw the blood into the channel.

    • 5

Remove the test strip from the blood drop when the window on the top of the strip is filled with blood. The monitor will analyze your blood sugar level and provide a readout.

    • 6

Pull the test strip out of the monitor and dispose of it properly.
