How to Calibrate the Ascensia Breeze 2 Blood Glucose Meter
-
1
Open the meter. Turn the display screen so it is facing down and away from you. Gently press the back edge of the latch and then pull up on the base. The meter should open easily.
-
2
Open the 10-test disc package. It is important to check the expiration date on the disc. If the date has expired, you will need to purchase a new disc. Expired test strips will give inaccurate readings.
-
3
Insert the disc into the meter. Make sure the rough side or bumpy side is facing up. Align the five notches on the disc with the tabs that are on the meter. Once you have aligned the disc, close the meter by snapping it shut. Make sure you keep the meter flat while closing or the disc may move. Your meter is now calibrated.
Prepare to Take a Blood Sample
-
4
Check your blood glucose level. You are now ready to take a blood sample. Wash your hands with warm water and mild soap before taking a sample. Insert a lancet into the lancet device by removing the endcap and inserting the lancet until it stops. Inserting the lancet will cock the device, so it is ready to use. Replace the endcap.
-
5
Prick the area. Most people use the side of the finger for a blood sample. Prick the area and squeeze out a drop of blood. Grasp the meter and pull the handle out until it stops and then push it back until it stops. A test strip is pushed out and the prompts appear on the screen.
-
6
Place the front edge of the test strip against the blood droplet. The blood pulls into the test strip. The meter will count down from five to one. Your blood test results will appear on the screen.
