How to Change the Code on a Freestyle Glucose Meter
Calibrating the code on your Freestyle blood glucose meter with the code number displayed on the vial of test strips is crucial for getting accurate test results. Using a test strip that's coded differently from the meter's current setting will lead to an error message or, worse, significantly incorrect results that could cause you to take too much or too little insulin.Instructions

1
Look on the side of your test strip vial for the one- or two-digit code number.
-
2
Insert a test strip from this vial into your Freestyle meter. It will turn on automatically.
-
3
After a second or two, a number will appear on the screen, with the word "Code" appearing below it. Compare this number with the code on the side of your test strip vial to see if the numbers match.

If the numbers do not match, push the "M" button to lower the number, or the "C" button to raise it. Each push increases or decreases the number by one. Once the correct number appears on the screen, wait a few seconds, and the meter will move on and ask for your blood sample.
