How to Change Date Settings in a Bayer Glucometer

Glucometers, or blood glucose meters, are portable and efficient devices designed to help diabetics monitor their blood-sugar levels throughout the day. The Bayer glucometer comes in two styles: the Contour and the Breeze 2. Because the manufacturer designed the meters independently, you use a different setup process for each. The concept is similar, however, making it easy for you to change the date on a Bayer glucometer.

  1. How to Change Date Settings in a Bayer Glucometer

      Know which style glucometer you have. The Contour meter has a large display for easy reading. It does not require coding, making it a simple instrument to use. To work the settings of the Breeze 2, you must open the button door to expose the meter buttons.

      Set the date on the Contour meter by pressing and holding the "M" (which stands for "mode") button located on the bottom right corner. Hold the button for three seconds until "12H" flashes in the upper left corner. Move the arrows up or down to select "12 hour" or "24 hour," which is military time. Press the "M" button again. The hour will flash. Again, move the arrows up or down to set the hour. Push the "M" button again, and the minute will flash. Move the arrows up or down to set the minutes. Push the "M" button again, and the month/day will flash. Select which month/day format you wish by pressing the arrows. Push the "M" button, and the month will flash. Choose the month by using the arrows. Push the "M" button again, and the day will flash. Move the arrows to the correct day, and push the "M" button.

      Set the date on the Breeze 2 meter by pressing the button door located at the bottom of the meter. This will expose the meter buttons. Press the setup button located below the "M" button. Press the "OK" button until the day display flashes. Press the up or down arrows to change the day. Press the "OK" button. The month will flash. Press the up and down buttons for the month. Press "OK." The year will flash. Press the up and down buttons for the year, and then press "OK."

      Continue to change settings on both the Contour and the Breeze 2 meters, including the setting for sound, by using the formats already detailed.
