How to Treat Weakness Due to Diabetes
Instructions
-
-
1
Check your blood glucose level to see if it is below 70 mg/dL. If you are unable to check it, treat the symptoms just as a precaution.
-
2
Learn the symptoms, including shakiness/weakness, dizziness, sweating, hunger, headache, pale skin, mood and behavior changes, clumsiness, seizure, confusion and tingling around your mouth.
-
3
Treat it immediately by consuming some type of sugar, like three or four glucose tablets, three to five hard candies you can chew quickly or one-half cup of juice or regular soda pop.
-
4
Wait 15 to 20 minutes and check blood glucose levels again, and if they're still low, treat again. Eat a normal meal or snack once levels are above 100 mg/dL or within 30 minutes after symptoms go away. Keep one type of sugar food or snack with you at all times to treat other episodes quickly.
