How to Use Ultra OneTouch Meters
The OneTouch Ultra is a palm-sized diabetic glucose monitoring device, also known as a glucose meter. When used in tandem with OneTouch Ultra test strips and a diabetic lancing device to draw blood, it is capable of giving accurate blood glucose readings in either mg/dL or mmol/L formats. You can use any diabetic lancing device you like with this meter, as long as it's capable of extracting a drop of blood from the side of your finger.Things You'll Need

1
Wash your hands and the place you intend to draw blood from---often the side of your finger---thoroughly with warm soapy water, then rinse and dry.
-
2
Slide a test strip all the way into the slot on the OneTouch Ultra meter. You shouldn't need to force it in. Once it's all the way in the meter will turn on. Check the number displayed on the meter screen against the number code on the vial of test strips; they should match.
-
3
Re-code your meter to match the code on the vial of test strips, if necessary, by pressing the "C" button as soon as the improper code is displayed. Keep pressing until the correct code is displayed.
-
4
Puncture the side of your finger, or another appropriate test site (which sites you can use depends entirely on what sort of lancing device you're using) with a diabetic lancing device. Hold the drop of blood that emerges against the yellow strip on the test strip and wait while the test strip draws the blood in. Hold your finger in place until the window is completely full.
-
5
Wait five seconds for the meter to produce a reading. The reading will stay on the screen until the meter either shuts off on its own or turns off because you removed the test strip.
