The types of foods you eat. We all heard that beans cause excess gas and abdominal pains from bloating, but there are other foods that attribute to these annoyances too. Cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and other coniferous vegetables are the cause as well, not to mention onions, various types of beans, and some forms of carbohydrates. Try experimenting with different foods to see where your main problem lies. You don't have to avoid these foods entirely; try reducing the serving sizes or limit the amount of gas producing foods you consume at each sitting. For instance, if you have red beans on the menu for lunch, then you can skip the broccoli and opt for other vegetables that are easier to break down by the body such as zucchini, or water based vegetables.

As we get older, it may seem that we bloat and produce gas more often. "Why don't we have these problems when we're kids?" A lot of this has to do with the fact that as the body ages, it doesn't produce the amount of necessary enzymes used to break down certain foods as we did when we were kids. Some really good examples would be dairy intolerances. As the pancreas ages, it loses the ability to produce the amount of lactase enzyme necessary to break down lactose. The result is excess gas and bloating. When the pancreas doesn't release the efficient supply of enzymes to break down the food that is consumed, the food travels to the intestines where the work is finished by bacteria present in the intestines. When these bacteria break down the food, they release sulfur and other gasses as a result. Consider taking a digestive enzyme supplement to aid in digesting hard to break down carbohydrates and other foods. Talk to your doctor about the best enzymes for you. Good enzyme supplements contain a variety of enzymes used to break down different types of food, and relieve gas and bloating which results from poorly digested matter.

Some forms of gas and bloating occur as a result from consuming too much air. Bloating and gas relief can be taken in a few simple steps when this type of issue occurs. Slow down eating your food. Starved individuals sometimes scarf their food down after just one bite from the spoon and then swallowing. This will hurt you in the end. Not only is your body going to have a hard time digesting the bits of whole food in your stomach, but unreleased air that may be trapped in the food will instantly cause bloat. Calm yourself down first before eating; even if you're starving. Take one bite of your food and slowly chew, making sure to chew the food thoroughly. This will help to rid any air in the food, and eliminate gas and bloat from air buildup. Always consume beverages with a straw. The straw will prevent any air from entering your stomach.
If you consumed too much air as a result from eating and can't release the air, drink some ginger tea. Find a good brand of ginger tea as its effectiveness will solely be determined on the strength of the ginger. You can make your own ginger tea by steeping in raw ginger into hot water for five minutes. This will help to relieve abdominal pains from gas and bloating.
