How to Flush Your Colon With Enema

The colon, the lower section of the large intestine, plays a major role in the digestive process. An enema is a process of flushing the colon to remove waste, debris, toxins and fecal matter accumulated over time. According to Colonhealth.org, waste remaining in the digestive system in excess of 20 hours begins to decay, leaking toxins into the blood stream and traveling to other organs. According to Dr. Robert Schulze, known for his work in herbal treatments, flushing the colon reduces the risks of arthritis, skin diseases and other skin problems. Flushing also regulates bowel movements, reduces irritable bowel syndrome and reduces constipation.

Instructions

  1. Procedure

    • 1

Purchase an enema kit (bag and tubing) at your local pharmacy or other outlet.

    • 2

Connect the kit according to the instructions enclosed in the package. Use lukewarm water to fill the enema bag, and hang it in an area that will be above you, such as a towel rack or shower curtain dowel, while you are seated on the toilet.

    • 3

Use newspaper or other materials to spread around the base of the toilet. Stand over the toilet seat with one leg on either side, and then bend to the waist. Gently insert the loose end of the tube of the enema bag into the rectum as far as it will go, and then squeeze the enema bag to release the solution into the colon, which is located at the top of the rectum.

    • 4

Apply light pressure with your hands to the lower abdominal walls (below the navel) to induce loosening of the fecal matter. Then sit on the toilet to allow the liquid and any fecal matter to be eliminated.

    • 5

Repeat step 4, four to seven times to gradually release as much of the waste from the colon as possible, using between one and one-half to two gallons of water. Continue to use the hands to place increased pressure on the abdomen, moving from left to right.
