How to Get Rid of Food That Is Caught in the Tonsils
Having food particles caught in your tonsils is uncomfortable and aggravating. The challenge of removing food caught in your tonsils is dealing with your gag reflex. Unfortunately, the possible triggering of your gag reflex cannot be avoided when removing stuck food. But do not let this keep you from removing the food, as leaving it there can cause tonsil stones and halitosis.Things You'll Need

1
Spray your tonsils to rinse out the food particles. Fill a water pic or a spray bottle with water. Set the spray bottle to stream. Put the water pic or the end of the spray bottle in your mouth, and direct it toward your tonsils. Get as close to your tonsils as you can stand. The high-pressure stream should help knock out the particles.

2
Drink a thick fluid like a milkshake or a smoothie. As it moves down your throat, thick fluids can pick up stuck food particles and carry them away.
-
3
Gargle to loosen and remove the food particles. Mix two teaspoons of salt with one cup of warm water. Fill your mouth, tilt your head all the way back, and gargle the solution in the back of your throat.

4
Brush the food particles off of your tonsils. Use a toothbrush with soft bristles and a small head such as a kid's toothbrush or a round-head toothbrush. Run the brush under warm water, and gently brush the sides and bottom of your tonsils.
