Instructions

    • 1

Remove any causes of stress. If you have a nervous stomach due to stress, walk away from the person or situation that is stressing you. If weather permits, go outside and get a breath of fresh air.

    • 2

Stop drinking or eating foods that contain caffeine. Because caffeine is a stimulant, it speeds up the heart rate, which can cause anxiety, which can upset a stomach.

    • 3

Take an over-the-counter stomach relief medicine such as Pepto Bismol, which will help coat your stomach and relieve discomfort.

    • 4

Eat a piece of peppermint candy or drink peppermint tea. Peppermint helps calm the stomach and with digestion issues.

    • 5

Don't hold in your bowel movements. If you have to go, then go. Holding your bowel movements can lead to stomach cramping, which will compound your nervous stomach issues.
