Home Remedy to Eliminate Gas

Gas in the intestines is caused by swallowing too much air while chewing or by bacteria that forms in the stomach after a meal. The gas can cause a lot of cramping, fullness and bloating in the abdomen. While there are over-the-counter products for treating the discomfort of gas, some home remedies may also help.
  1. Peppermint Tea

    • Brew seven to eight peppermint leaves for each cup of water to make a peppermint tea. Peppermint soothes the stomach and eliminates irritation, gas, bloating and other upset stomach conditions. Drink the tea as often as needed for episodes of flatulence.

    Spices

    • Add cumin and coriander to your diet in order to eliminate gas in the stomach. Cumin is an Indian herb that can alleviate gas buildup in the stomach. Coriander regulates the digestive system and keeps the stomach healthy. Try adding two to three drops of coriander oil to tea.

    Smaller Meals

    • Eat smaller, blander meals, several times per day instead of three large ones. Chew your food slowly so that you do not swallow a lot of excessive air. Chicken noodle soup with crackers, baked potatoes and toast are good examples of foods that will not cause gas.

    Asafetida

    • Asafetida is an herbal medicine that can help remedy constipation and the stomach cramps that are associated with gas. The recommended dosage is 400mg per day.

    Chamomile Tea

    • Make a tea out of chamomile leaves and add honey to sweeten it. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties and relieves stomach disorders. It is so safe it is often used for babies with colic. Use two to three teaspoons of chamomile leaves for every cup of water. Steep the leaves for 20 minutes and strain the liquid.
