Cleanse for Leaky Gut Syndrome
Leaky gut syndrome is most often associated with candida overgrowth in the large intestines. Candida albicans and other varieties live naturally in the colon. They can sometimes overproduce because of antibiotics, corticosteroids and poor diet. This overgrowth can actually perforate the lining of the bowels, causing toxins, parasites and other impurities to leak into the blood stream and cells. Treatments for leaky gut includes various cleansing methods.-
Diet
-
Many commercial foods contain gluten and sugar, two things that can feed systemic yeast and cause a leaky gut. Most breads, pastas, cereals and milk contain gluten and sugar. To eliminate leaky gut, eat foods that are gluten and sugar-free. There are brown rice substitutes for milk and other popular staple foods. Also, most meats, vegetables, fruits, potatoes, yams and nuts do not contain gluten.
Juicing With Vegetables & Fruits
-
Juice raw vegetables, fruits and certain herbs. Mix them in a blender and drink them. Vegetables and fruits contain digestive enzymes which can repair a leaky gut. Both contain many vitamins and minerals, which supports healthy cell growth.
Carrots, celery, cucumbers, kale, beets, radishes, parsley and garlic are some popular vegetables used in juicing. Some fruits used in juicing include bananas, mangoes, papaya, kiwi, oranges, grapefruit, blueberries and strawberries.
Probiotics & Enzymes
-
Systemic yeast and leaky gut usually cause an erosion of your body's natural bacteria. Probiotics can help replenish the flora in your colon, kill excess yeast and repair your leaky gut. They are available at most health food stores.
Digestive enzymes can also be purchased as a dietary supplement. Enzymes can also eliminate candida overgrowth and leaky gut syndrome. Since vegetables and fruits have natural enzymes, you will need to decide between purchasing these enzymes or getting them from your foods.
Colon Cleansing
-
There are two types of colon cleanses for candida and leaky gut---the powder formula or colonic irrigation. Powder cleanses usually contain a mixture of foods and herbs that fight yeast and remove fecal impactions. The disadvantage of this method is that people with food allergies or intolerances may be sensitive to some of the foods or herbs in it. This could actually exacerbate the leaky gut.
Colon irrigation is usually administered through a licensed colon hydrotherapist. This method flushes the large intestine with purified water, removing fecal impactions, yeast, toxins and parasites. If your leaky gut has led to certain autoimmune diseases (i.e. fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome), you may need to do colonic irrigation for several months or longer. This cleansing method is highly effective in eliminating and repairing leaky gut.
