Impacted Colon Symptoms

According to the Colon Cleansing & Constipation Resource Center, "many people suffer from impaction without even realizing it because its symptoms are not necessarily directly related to digestion." An impacted colon is when fecal and mucus deposits adhere to the walls of the colon, making it difficult to remove. This condition can be caused by diet, lifestyle and even medications. People with colon impactions often have systemic yeast, parasites and toxins in their colon. This can cause people to have a number of symptoms ranging from constipation to full-blown autoimmune diseases,
  1. Constipation

    • Fecal impactions can both cause and be caused by constipation. According to Aetna's Intelihealth web site, "Occasionally, long-term constipation develops into fecal impaction, which is a blocked colon from a mass of stool that can't be moved by colon contractions." The colon can also become distended because of impactions, where certain areas of the bowels become bloated and distorted. This makes it difficult for fecal matter to pass through the large intestines. Constipation and impactions can be caused by a sedentary lifestyle, medications, a diet low in fiber and dehydration.

    Yeast Infections

    • Some people with colon impactions develop yeast infections. This is because any number of bad habits or medications can cause an overgrowth of candida in the large intestines. Candida albicans or other varieties live naturally in the colon. But the overuse of antibiotics, corticosteroids and even chlorinated water can spur the overproduction of this yeast-like fungus. This condition is call candidiasis, which is an internal yeast infection. But candidiasis can actually cause external candida to over-proliferate as well, such as on the penis or in the vaginal area. As a result, men and women can develop burning and itching in their genital area. Moreover, some people even develop skin rashes on their body, in their mouth (thrush) and in other areas because of an impacted colon.

    Headaches

    • Candida fungus caused by an impacted colon can cause migraines and headaches. According to Dr. Bruce Semon, "fungi also make chemicals which are toxic to the brain. I have found from clinical experience that foods contaminated by yeast or fungus, for example, peanuts, or foods in which yeast has been present, such as vinegar, are all headache causers . . . Most of these chemicals should be cleared by the liver but not all are. No one knows exactly what these chemicals do when they get to the blood vessels of the brain."

    Gastritis

    • Gastritis is when the lining of the stomach becomes inflamed. People who get this ailment typically have a lot of flatulence. Gastritis can be caused by an impacted colon. Systemic yeast, toxins and parasites can enter the bloodstream from an impacted colon and invade cells and body organs. This weakens the immune system. Gastritis, also caused by the candida fungus, can occur as a result of a person's weakened immunity.

    Fatigue

    • Weakened immunity from an impacted colon can also cause fatigue. Systemic yeast and parasites can rob the body of nutrients. As a result, one can feel lethargic and enervated. In some cases, a weakened immune system can lead to chronic fatigue syndrome, which is an autoimmune disease attributed to candidiasis and an impacted colon. People suffering from this condition often need to go on gluten- and sugar-free diets to kill the yeast. Juicing with raw vegetables and fruits as well as colon cleanses can also break up impactions and eliminate candidiasis.
