Best Colon Cleansing Systems
Colon cleansing is becoming increasingly popular as new holistic approaches to wellness receive more exposure. But with so many products available, and with so many companies claiming their system is the best, how does one determine which product to use?-
Considerations
-
There is little scientific evidence to either support, or refute, the benefits of colon cleansing. Most doctors do not recommend the process as a means of detoxification, as the human digestive system naturally eliminates waste material and toxins. Most physicians recommend a healthy diet of fiber and plenty of water to promote a healthy digestive system, and even go as far as to warn against taking unregulated supplements.
But there are many proponents for detoxifying the digestive system by taking herbal supplements, and they generally cite enhanced overall health as the primary benefit. Supplement companies advertise their products as completely safe and with nothing but positive side effects, which usually include weight loss and a flatter stomach. These herbal supplement makers emphasize the medically accepted fact that if toxins remain in the colon for extended periods of time, they will eventually be absorbed into the bloodstream and travel throughout the entire body.
Product Features
-
Some of the most popular herbal supplement products are Bowtrol, Colonix, Regulux and Puristat. They each claim that their product contains a unique blend of ingredients that will lead to a healthier life by removing toxic materials and parasites from the colon. Each of these products has page after page of internet reviews, but the average person searching for information can easily be duped by what appears to be an independent review but which has actually been placed by an "affiliate marketer" trying to grab a percentage of the sale.
Most colon cleansing supplements contain compounds of a plant know as senna, a powerful laxative that stimulates the bowel in just a few hours. One popular herbal product sells a six-month supply of their pills containing senna, but fails to include prominent medical warnings regarding the risk of taking this herb for longer than seven days.
But which colon cleansing system rises from the myriad of available products as the best? Cleansing by enema should be used with caution, and never on a regular basis. There are simply too many warnings published by the medical community about dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and infection associated with enemas. Herbal supplements, on the other hand, seem to be fairly safe, but only when taken occasionally and not over extended periods of time.
For these reasons, determining the "best" colon cleansing system seems to be an elusive task. Considering the many warnings by physicians, one should probably place more emphasis on which system is the least risky.
