Diarrhea Cure
Diarrhea is a condition in which you have watery, loose bowel movements that usually occur with stomach cramps, which can be quite severe. The symptoms of diarrhea can last for a few days, which means going to the bathroom more often. And this, if not monitored, can cause dehydration. Always contact your physician if you have had diarrhea for more than a few days, as this can signal something more serious than a stomach bug.-
Medications
-
A parasitic bacterial infection can be the cause of your diarrhea. If your physician determines this is the cause, then he will prescribe you an antibiotic to help destroy the bacteria and the symptoms will subside. Over-the-counter medications such as Imodium can help you feel better quickly by absorbing the fluids you have consumed, which makes the fecal matter more solid, thus stopping the diarrhea. Doctors usually do not recommend diarrhea medications because the condition is your body's way of eliminating the "bugs." If you allow it to run its course, you will feel better after a while.
Food and Drink
-
One of the most important things you can do when you have diarrhea is to drink plenty of fluids to replenish the fluids and electrolytes lost during your diarrhea bouts. The BRAT diet--bananas, rice, apples and toast--is usually recommended when you have symptoms of diarrhea, and should be followed until the symptoms have stopped. Yogurt is also a good food to treat diarrhea, as it contains active cultures that can ease symptoms.
Home Remedy
-
There are many home remedies that can aid in the treatment of diarrhea. Mix a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink it at each meal. It is said to help with the symptoms of diarrhea. Four tablespoons of honey mixed with a glass of water is also said to be useful in treating diarrhea, as is drinking one full cup of pickle juice.
