Natural Remedy for Gallstones

Gallstones are a painful affliction that can strike anyone who eats a high-fat diet, whether they are overweight or of a normal weight. Gallstones, sometimes bigger than a pea in size, try to pass through the gallbladder's exit tube, which is no wider than a hair's breadth--and that's what causes the severe pain associated with a "gallstone attack." Signs of a gallstone attack include severe pain in the upper abdomen that may last for hours. The pain may radiate to the back and the victim may have to keep shifting positions to get comfortable.
  1. Olive Oil Remedy

    • Take 4 teaspoons of olive oil and mix it with the juice of half a lemon. Add to this mixture 1 clove of peeled raw garlic that has been crushed and chopped. Drink this concoction on an empty stomach every day for a month. Remember that natural remedies for most ailments take longer to work effectively than that of traditional allopathic medicines.

    Apple Juice

    • Drink 1 cup of apple juice twice daily for one month. The apple juice destroys the gallstones by breaking them down to virtually nothing so they can be passed from the body painlessly. Eating a balanced diet containing moderate amounts of fat is recommended to keep gallstones at bay.

    Daily Prevention

    • Drinking coffee may help prevent gallstones, and coffee is full of antioxidants, so go ahead and drink some. Stay away from high-fat junk food that will only make you fat. Drink eight glasses of fresh water daily.

Certain foods eaten daily may keep gallstones under control such as 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder; raw beetroot juice; six radishes; one apple, pear, lime or grapefruit; and Chamomile and Cleaver's tea. Eating citrus fruits helps, as they contain pectin, thought to eliminate gallstones.

Also, exercise daily and get enough sleep.
