Natural At-Home Colon Cleansing
Many times, the foods we eat cause digestive problems. We eat too much junk food and not enough fruits and vegetables, which slows down cleansing of the colon. But it's possible to give yourself a safe, easy colon cleaning at home.-
What You Need
-
One of the cheapest and most effective natural ingredients for colon cleansing is Epsom salt. Epsom salt is best known for its ability to heal aches and pains when mixed with warm water and used as a soak bath. It's also great when you need to cleanse the colon. You can buy Epsom salt almost anywhere--drug stores, grocery stores and health stores. Make sure that the back of the package states that you're able to use that particular product for ingestion, laxative or cleansing purposes.
How to Use
-
Follow the instructions on the Epsom salt package. Typically, it's suggested that you mix 1 to 2 tsp. with a 1/2 glass of water. Stir until dissolved, and drink the mixture. For children ages 6 to12, use only 1 tsp. Epsom salt, and do not use on children younger than 6. This is ideal to do at home, because you'll need to be near a restroom for the next few hours. You'll most likely rush to the restroom every 15 to 30 minutes, until your colon is cleansed. One dose per day is typically enough, but you can drink this mixture up to twice per day. It's suggested that you wait at least 6 hours between doses. This can be used daily for up to 7 days.
Warnings
-
This remedy should not be used regularly, as it may cause kidney or liver damage when over-used. Do not use the Epsom salt mixture more than twice per day, and do not repeat it for more than 7 days straight. Do not ingest Epsom salt if you are pregnant, nursing or have kidney problems. Do not use it if you experience nausea, vomiting, or if you have pains on the abdomen. Consult with a doctor before use if you are currently taking other medications.
