Sour Stomach Cures
Sour stomach, also known as acid reflux or acid indigestion, is caused by an excess buildup of acid in the stomach and digestive system. Luckily, there are a number of cures that can overcome your sour stomach quickly and effectively.-
Change Your Diet
-
Certain foods increase acid production and should be eaten sparingly. Stay away from animal fats and citrus fruits, such as pineapple, oranges, lemons and tomatoes. Meanwhile, increase your intake of bread and other carbohydrates, which will help absorb extra acid in the stomach. In addition, drink peppermint or ginger tea, both of which have soothing qualities that will help heal a sour stomach.
Stop Smoking and Drinking Alcohol
-
If you're a smoker and experience sour stomach the cure may be as easy as staying away from tobacco products. Alcohol and tobacco stimulate acid production in the stomach and digestive system and will increase sour stomach symptoms. Although it may be difficult to eliminate these substances from your diet entirely, try to limit your daily consumption as much as possible, especially when you have an upset stomach.
Relax
-
Stress is a huge factor in sour stomach and acid production, which is why when you're upset a stomach ache seems to follow. Try to stay away from stressful situations and exercise for at least 10 to 15 minutes per day, which will relieve stress, release endorphins and decrease acid production in the body. Yoga and meditation are great options, but if you are unable to squeeze in a workout find a relaxing hobby or take a calming bath to help reduce symptoms.
