1
Keep a food diary in order to avoid potential food triggers. Bloating often indicates an intolerance to a certain type of food. When you feel bloated, record the time, what you ate and the effect it had on your digestive system.
-
2
Take digestive enzymes at least a half hour prior to eating. If food digests properly in your stomach, it should produce less gas in your lower digestive tract.
-
3
Avoid foods that cause gas, such as asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, potatoes and beans.
-
4
Eat slowly. Gas can get into your system if you eat too fast and swallow air along with food. Take the time to chew your food thoroughly and swallow carefully.
-
5
Drink a lot of water, avoid carbonated beverages and don't drink through a straw.
-
6
Take an over-the-counter, anti-gas medication to prevent or relieve excessive bloating.
