Cures for Worms in Humans
Worms are parasites that can infect humans, and usually live and reproduce in the intestines. There are a wide variety of intestinal worms that get inside the human body. They usually enter one's system through the drinking contaminated water and consumption of compromised fruit, or raw or undercooked meat where the worms thrive.-
Types of Worms
-
Some worms are microscopic while others are large enough to be visible to the naked eye. Some of the types of worms that affect humans include tapeworms, pinworms, roundworms, hook worms, flat worms, giardia, and liver flukes. The most common type is the roundworm, which is said to infect one out of four people yearly.
Common Symptoms
-
Because worms usually infect the digestive system first, most of them cause digestive problems such as loss of appetite, stomach ache, abdominal discomfort, bloating, diarrhea, bloody stools, vomiting, constipation, and gas. Other symptoms may include rashes, insomnia, eye pain, protein deficiency, nausea, mental dullness, coughing, fever, nervousness, anemia, chills, weakness, and fatigue. It should be noted that these symptoms are also common symptoms for a host of other diseases and conditions, thus consulting a physician is recommended to determine if one has been infected by worms.
Diagnosis
-
The most common way to determine if a parasite is present in the body is by testing a stool sample. Most worm infections can be treated with antibiotics, colon cleansers, or special types of medications.
Treatment
-
Depending on the prescription of a physician, worms can be eliminated through colon cleansers, also known as colonics. Other options include antibiotic treatments as well as natural and herbal remedies. One herbal remedy for intestinal parasites includes a mixture of black walnut leaves, cloves, wormwood, quassia, and male fern; another combines sage, capsicum, and wormwood. These herbal remedies are usually taken for a period of two weeks or more.
Prevention
-
Eating healthy and drinking clean water helps prevent worm infections. Certain foods, spices and juices also help prevent worms, including cranberry juice, apple cider vinegar, pomegranates, garlic, figs, and high-fiber foods. It also helps a lot to eat organic fruits and vegetables that have been thoroughly washed. Thoroughly cooking seafood and meats and drinking sanitized or distilled water can also aid in worm prevention. When possible, it is best to avoid cooking with a microwave or eating raw and undercooked meats and seafood. Refined carbohydrates, sugar, chestnuts, and watercress should also be avoided. Swimming in contaminated lakes, rivers and streams may also lead to worm infection. Finally, washing your hands and keeping them clean can help prevent contamination.
