Ulcer & Acid Reflux Symptoms

When you are plagued with stomach issues, it's only natural to question what is wrong. Most people assume they're dealing with a little acid reflux. But as the condition persists and worsens, people may think that they have an ulcer, which has symptoms that are similar to acid reflux.
  1. Heartburn

    • Heartburn is a symptom of both acid reflux and an ulcer. Heartburn is essentially a burning sensation in the region of chest.

    Bloating

    • Boating also occurs with acid reflux and ulcers. This bloating may be accompanied by gas.

    Nausea

    • Many times a person suffering from either acid reflux or an ulcer would experience some nausea, which may bring about vomiting.

    Cramps

    • Another common symptom of both of these conditions is cramping in the abdominal region. However, ulcers trigger actual pain on an empty stomach, as opposed to pain associated with having a meal.

    Loss of Appetite

    • Depending on the severity of both conditions, a person may begin to lose his appetite, even if eating would bring some relief (as in the case of an ulcer).
