How does bile get from the liver to duodenum?

The liver produces bile, which helps to digest fats. From the liver, bile travels through the hepatic ducts and the common hepatic duct to the gallbladder. The gallbladder stores and concentrates bile. When you eat a meal, the gallbladder contracts and releases bile into the common bile duct. The common bile duct joins with the pancreatic duct and empties into the duodenum, the first part of the small intestine.
