How to Prevent Acidity

1
Avoid foods that cause acidity, such as fried and spicy foods, processed sweets, beef and dairy products. Citrus fruits and juices, such as grapefruits and lemonade, can be problematic for an acidic stomach. There are also beverages that should be avoided, such as coffee, alcohol, caffeinated tea and soda.

2
Eat smaller portions at mealtimes. Consuming less food gives your stomach an opportunity to digest the food and reduces the symptoms of acid reflux.
-
3
Stop smoking. This unhealthy habit can increase acid secretion and can reduce the production of saliva, which helps neutralize acid.
-
4
Avoid taking a nap after eating and eating right before bed. Gravity helps move foods through your body and your digestive tract, but this process doesn't take place as fast when lying down.
