What do lipase in the large intestines do?
Lipases in the large intestines do not play a significant role in the digestion of dietary lipids. The primary site for lipid digestion is in the small intestine, where various lipases, such as pancreatic lipase and bile salt-dependent lipases, break down fats into absorbable forms. The large intestine, also known as the colon, is mainly responsible for water absorption, electrolyte transport, and the processing of undigested material and bacterial fermentation products.
