Is the esophagus digestion absorption or elimination?

The esophagus is part of the digestive system but is neither involved in digestion, absorption, nor elimination. Its primary function is to transport food from the mouth to the stomach by means of peristaltic muscular contractions known as swallowing. Once the food reaches the stomach, it begins the further processes of digestion, absorption, and elimination.
