How to Activate Pepsin
The enzyme pepsin is found in the stomach and assists with the digestion of food proteins. Pepsin is one of only three enzymes that assist the body in the breakdown of proteins. Normally, pepsin is produced in the walls of the stomach and is secreted into the stomach when food enters the stomach. People who are unable to produce enough pepsin need to take a supplement to increase the amount of pepsin in their system and assist with the breakdown of proteins in food.Things You'll Need
- Food high in protein
- Chymotrypsin enzyme
- Trypsin enzyme
Instructions

-
1
Consume foods that are high in proteins such as eggs, meat or cheese. Pepsin is a natural enzyme designed to break down proteins. Once the protein is present in the stomach, the body secretes pepsin from the walls of the stomach.
-
2
Take the prescribed pepsin supplement as directed by a medical doctor.
-
3
Continue to consume foods high in protein. The pepsin supplement and the hydrochloric acid in the stomach activate the pepsin that has been secreted from the stomach wall to assist in the continued digestion of the protein.
