Directions for the OneTouch UltraSmart
The OneTouch UltraSmart is a small digital glucose meter used by diabetics. While most glucose meters will give a blood sugar reading, the UltraSmart collects and organizes the information over long term. It is able to produce charts and averages to enable a diabetic to protect themselves from dangerous blood-sugar levels. In addition, the UltraSmart allows the user to choose alternate sites from fingertips. This helps prevent repeated finger pricks and allows those with poor hand circulation to choose a site with more blood flow.Things You'll Need

How to Test
-
1
Insert the test strip into the port on the top of the meter. This will turn on the machine. A code will display on the meter---compare this code to the bottle of strips to ensure they match. If for some reason they do not match, use the arrow key to scroll until the matching code is found.
-
2
Hold the finger lance firmly against the site of your choice. Press the release button. This releases the lance quickly into the skin to produce blood to test.
-
3
Squeeze or massage the skin to form a small round drop of blood.
-
4
Touch the strip to the drop of blood while it is still secure in the meter. The meter will display a confirmation window to indicate whether the amount of blood was sufficient for testing. If the amount was sufficient, results will show in approximately five seconds. If there was not enough blood, remove the strip and try with a new one.
