Avoid eating foods that create gas. Foods that create gas include beans, cabbage, carbonated drinks, yeast foods --- such as pasta and bread --- and high fat, high protein foods such as red meat and cheese.

Eat smaller meals and eat more slowly. Sometimes, air gets trapped in the throat from eating too quickly, which can cause excess gas.

Eat foods with ginger in them, as ginger reduces gases caused from eating many foods.

Chew peppermint after eating. Peppermint is known to cut down on flatus gases. Chew peppermint leaves or suck on a peppermint candy, as the peppermint oil in peppermint candy will have the same effect.

Mix two spoonfuls of brandy in a cup of warm water and drink before bedtime to settle your stomach as you sleep.

Take a charcoal tablet once a day. Charcoal tablets are an over the counter tablet that is used to decrease gas in the body.
