The milky juice of the papaya contains papain, the seeds are rich in caricin, and the alkaloid carpaine found in the leaves all have the powerful ability to destroy and expel intestinal worms. It has been used throughout history as a useful laxative, analgesic and antibacterial, giving the papaya the ability to cure intestinal parasites.

Measure 1 tsp. of powdered papaya seeds, and combine it with a cup of milk or water on an empty stomach. Use the mixture two times per day and continue the regimen for three to four days.
Mix 1 tbsp. of fresh papaya juice, 1 tbsp honey and 4 tbsp. of hot water. Repeat the dose in two hours followed by 30 ml of castor oil mixed with warm milk. Continue the treatment for two days. Divide the dosage in half for children ages 7 to 10 years.

The most common types of intestinal worms include roundworms, pinworms, threadworms, hookworms, tapeworms and giardia. Worm eggs are typically contracted through contaminated water and food. The risk of becoming infected with worms is high if the following conditions are present: a weak immune system, poor hygiene or sanitation, international travel, working in childcare centers, or having HIV or AIDS. Age is a contributing factor, with children and the elderly being at higher risk. Worms can live in the intestine for many years before causing symptoms.

Papaya seeds are small, round and black and have a bitter flavor that resembles pepper.
