Parents with disabilities may face challenges to parenting that are unique to their disability. A little creativity and access to resources and adaptive equipment can help make daily parenting easier. Contact local disability organizations to find what you need. Some disability organizations provide adaptive equipment or can refer you to state resources as well.

Contact major rehabilitation hospitals for resources. Rehabilitation hospitals may be able to redesign a piece of adaptive equipment if needed.

Locate other parents with disabilities by networking with rehabilitation hospitals, disability organizations or centers for independent living. Attend support groups to connect and network with other parents with disabilities.

Contact local school districts to inquire about other resources for parents with disabilities. Special education departments may have a list of local resources.
