How to Get Disability With CML
Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) is a slow developing form of cancer. It starts in the bone marrow and eventually attacks the healthy white blood cells causing illness. Treatment for this illness may include chemotherapy, medication or a bone marrow transplant. The illness causes many symptoms, including fatigue and a weakened immune system. Therefore, work and school may become difficult, especially during treatments. Social Security Disability is a monthly benefit paid by the Social Security Administration to those who have worked in the United States. It is meant to provide income to those who are no longer able to earn for themselves due to disability or illness.Instructions

Complete the required disclosure form, entitled "Authorization to Disclose Information to the Social Security Administration." See Resources for a link to the form, which you must print and mail in. This allows the Social Security Administration to obtain necessary records from sources. These sources may include health care professionals, employers and others including family who may know about your condition. Information obtained is used to determine if your CML makes you eligible for disability.
