Once I am done with phlebotomist training required to take a certification exam?

Clinical Training

- Complete 40 hours of clinical training and patient interaction.

Observation

- Participate in 10 phlebotomy procedures performed by a certified phlebotomy technician.

- Understand infection control procedures and patient interaction techniques.

Certification

- Fulfil all educational prerequisites outlined by the issuing body.

- Apply for the desired certification exam.

- Pass the certification exam with a score determined by the issuing body.

- The National Healthcareer Association requires 120 hours of training or 60 hours combined between classroom and on the job training

- The American Medical Technologists require candidates to complete 40 hours of clinical training and 120 hours of classroom instruction.
