What is timed obstacle ambulation test?
The Timed-up-and-Go (TUG) test is a simple, quick, and reliable clinical performance-based measure that quantifies mobility by assessing the time it takes for an individual to rise from a standard armchair, walk a short distance (usually 3 meters), turn, walk back, and sit down again. The TUG test includes activities commonly required in daily life and has been recognized as having high sensitivity and specificity as a screen for fall risk in adults 65 years or older living in the community and hospitalized older adults. Although originally designed as a tool to indicate fall risk, the TUG also reflects general functional status or level of mobility regardless of a person's age and physical capabilities
