1
Exercise once a day. Avoid strenuous exercise that makes you tired. Instead, try something light, like water aerobics. Speak to your doctor about other exercises he recommends.
-
2
Wrap the affected limb with a fabric bandage. The bandage should be tightest toward the feet and get looser as it goes up the thigh.
-
3
Massage your leg once a day unless you have blood clots or a skin infection. Daily massaging helps drain the lymph and decrease swelling.
-
4
Elevate the leg when lying down. That means the leg should be higher than the rest of your body.
-
5
Moisten the affected limb with lotion to avoid dry skin that sometimes occurs as a result of lymphedema.
